Samsung palm reader for password security

Samsung has filed a patent application for a palm-scanning security system, which would be used to display password hints.

The system will help users remember their password by scanning their palm and displaying hints as incomplete characters.

While the palm-scanning system could be used to sign users into their Samsung smartphone, it would require depth-sensing capabilities to prevent being fooled by pictures of the user’s hand.

It is not known whether the system will be implemented in Samsung’s upcoming mobile devices.
