AARTO website hack: are you at risk?

Cyber Government online security privacy

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has told MyBroadband that no sensitive data was compromised during a recent hack of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) website.

A hacker going by “rEd X” purporting to be from Bangladesh, hacked the AARTO website on 24 April 2013 and defaced it to announce the site had been compromised.

Spokesperson for the RTMC, Ashref Ismail, said that they took the site down shortly after it was hacked and soon returned it to normal.

According to Ismail they are able to deal with issues very swiftly, but added that they will be taking steps to safeguard the website.

“Every effort will be made along with the service service provider, Tasima, to ensure this doesn’t happen [in future],” Ismail said.
