OS X El Capitan unveiled
Apple has unveiled the new version of its desktop operating system, OS X 10.11 “El Capitan”.

Rumours doing the rounds before Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference on 8 June suggested that the next version of OS X would feature very few user-facing changes.
Based on the demonstration conducted by Apple’s head of software engineering Craig Federighi, this seemed to be the case.
Federighi showed off enhanced searching with Spotlight, a set of gestures for Apple Mail and Safari, new window management features for full-screen applications, and split-view full screen.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple will also introduce security features – such as protecting core system files from being tampered with – but this was not mentioned in the keynote.
Developers are able to get preview versions of El Capitan immediately, with a full launch coming “this fall” (September – November 2015).
