Warning: Uninstall Apple QuickTime for Windows now

Quicktime

Apple has confirmed it will no longer update or support its QuickTime 7 video player for Windows, The Wall Street Journal reported.

This follows a recent warning from the US Department of Homeland Security to Windows users, advising them to uninstall QuickTime.

Instructions on how to uninstall QuickTime 7 for Windows are available on Apple’s support website.

Apple states that the most recent media-related programs for Windows, including iTunes 10.5 or later, no longer use QuickTime to play media formats.

“These programs either play the media directly or use the media support built into Windows,” said Apple.

When you uninstall QuickTime 7, you also remove the legacy QuickTime 7 web plug-in, if present.

“Removing legacy browser plug-ins enhances the security of your PC.”
