Chrome closes gap on IE and Firefox
Google launched its Google Chrome web browser, based on the WebKit layout engine, in beta for Windows in September 2008. The first public release was launched in December 2008.
Google Chrome is popular among users looking for a fast, lightweight browser, and easy integration with Google’s services makes it an increasingly popular choice with Internet users.
Since its launch in late 2008 Google Chrome has steadily been gaining market share. According to the latest browser usage stats from Net Applications, StatCounter and W3Counter, Google Chrome currently has a market share of 12.40% and is placed third behind Internet Explorer (46.22%) and Firefox (29.92%).
Google Chrome is however far more popular among tech savvy consumers, and according to the latest MyBroadband visitors statistics 19.25% of visitors use Google Chrome. Internet Explorer remains the most popular browser with MyBroadband visitors with 34.05%, but it may be overtaken shortly by Firefox which currently stands at 33.70%.
MyGaming’s visitors seem to be ahead of the curve, with Firefox being the most popular browser with 42.44% market share, followed by Google Chrome on 24.98% and Internet Explorer with 22.00%.
