Facebook Messenger to send advertisements
Facebook Messenger plans to send sponsored messages to users following the successful testing of the new feature, The Next Web reported.
The report stated that users who have interacted with businesses through Facebook Messenger by requesting information from a bot will receive the advertising messages.
“What’s unclear, however, is if Facebook is able to make a distinction between messages sent to automated chat bots and those sent to human representatives managing a support page,” stated the report.
The report also stated that Facebook is introducing a new type of ad in its News Feed which allows users to communicate directly with the brand doing the advertising.
