We won’t kill Paint – Microsoft

Microsoft will not kill Paint, and has promised the app is only moving to the Windows Store – where it will be available for free.

This follows reports that MS Paint made the list of deprecated features in the Fall Creator’s Update for Windows 10.

Other deprecated features include System Image Backup, various IIS features, and Windows Powershell 2.0.

Features being removed with the update include Outlook Express, the screen-saver functionality in Themes, and the 3D Builder app.

“Today, we’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support and nostalgia around MS Paint,” said Microsoft.

“If there’s anything we learned, it’s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans.”

Microsoft added that many features in Paint are available in its new creativity app, Paint 3D.

Paint 3D is available in the current Windows 10 Creators Update, and Microsoft said it will continue to get updates.
