Open source Flash
A Github petition is asking Adobe to open source Flash, because “killing Flash means future generations can’t access the past”.
“Flash is an important piece of Internet history. Games, experiments, and websites would be forgotten,” the petition stated.
It said open sourcing Flash would be a way to keep Flash projects alive for archiving purposes.
“Don’t know how, but that’s the beauty of open source: you never know what will come up after you go open source.”
“We understand that there are licensed components you cannot release. Simply leave them out with a note explaining what was removed.
“We will either bypass them, or replace them with open source alternatives.”
This petition has received over 3,500 stars (signatures), and will be delivered to Adobe.
