Google is set to launch Android O on 21 August, coinciding with a solar eclipse in the US.
It said users will “meet the next release of Android and all of its super new powers, revealed via livestream from New York City at 2:40PM ET”. (20:40 SA time.)
The new version of Android – which will be Android 8.0 – is rumoured to be called Android Oreo, in keeping with the OS being named after a sweet treat.
Android O will feature multiple new features, including allowing users to update their OS even if the storage on their device is full.
