The most popular programming languages in the world

According to the Tiobe Index for August 2018, Java, C, and C++ are the most popular programming languages in the world.

Other popular languages include Visual Basic .NET and Python, which is getting closer to overtaking C++ as the third-most popular programming language.

Tiobe noted that Python is nearing its all-time highest ranking, and predicted that Python will enter the top 3 due to its widespread use in large embedded systems.

After entering the top 50 list last month, TypseScript has fallen to position 62.

The PYPL rankings showed Python at the top of its list, followed by Java and JavaScript.

Calculating the rankings

PYPL – The more a language tutorial is searched, the more popular the language is assumed to be. The raw data comes from Google Trends.

Tiobe – The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers worldwide, courses, and third-party vendors. Popular search engines are also used to calculate the ratings.
