Windows app lets users stream the OS to iPhones, iPads, MacBooks
Microsoft has created a Windows App that lets people stream the operating system on various systems, including iOS, iPadOS, MacOS, and web browsers.
The app effectively turns the Windows 365 app into a hub for streaming a copy of the operating system from a remote PC.
“Windows App is your gateway to Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Microsoft Dev Box, Remote Desktop Services, and remote PCs, securely connecting you to Windows devices and apps,” says Microsoft.
However, the Windows App is currently limited to a range of business accounts. This could soon change as the sign-in prompt on the Windows App suggests that one can sign in with a personal account, but the functionality isn’t working yet.
While the app is said to be available on desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, the preview version isn’t available on Android yet.
Those who use a web browser to access the service can connect without downloading and installing any software.
The app supports multiple monitors, custom display resolutions and scaling, and device redirection for webcams, storage devices, and printers.
The dedicated Windows App could signal that the tech giant’s ambitions to move Windows fully to the cloud have begun.
