Samsung Smart TV app development kit for Linux and Mac OS

Samsung Smart TV SDK download

Samsung recently announced in a press release that it will be launching a new version (4.0) of its Smart TV software development kit (SDK) at the 2013 international Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is being held in Las Vegas from 8–11 January 2013.

This new version of the Smart TV SDK will let developers build applications for Samsung TVs on Linux and Mac, in addition to the Windows operating system.

Previously the SDK only supported Microsoft’s Windows platform.

The Korean electronics giant also punted its “local cloud developer environment” which it says will let developers on Mac OS collaborate with those using Windows.

Samsung went on to explain that the SDK supports development in HTML5 and allows access to external devices, including Samsung’s own voice- and gesture-based input systems.
