Office for iPad launched

Microsoft’s general manager for Office, Julia White, announced the launch of Office for iPad at an event in San Francisco, California on Thursday, 27 March 2014.
Rumours of the app’s launch emerged last week, suggesting that Office for iPad will be new Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s first big product launch.
The app includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and is set to launch in the App Store by 20:00 (SAST).
White said that Office for iPad is not simply the Windows app ported to Apple’s popular tablet PC, but is “all native”.
Files created or edited in Office for iPad will look exactly as they did on the tablet when opened in the desktop apps, and vice versa, White said.
Regarding price, White said that Office for iPad is free if you want to read and present documents.
