The DStv Now mobile application for Android and iOS devices was launched on Tuesday, 25 November 2014.

MultiChoice officially unveiled the app, along with the Internet features of the DStv Explora decoder, on 12 November, saying that the app would launch before the end of the month.

“It’s pretty stable and works pretty well already, but we want to squash a last few bugs,” DStv Digital Media CEO John Kotsaftis said at the time.

The DStv Now app offers DStv Premium subscribers with personal video recording (PVR) access, the ability to watch DStv Catch Up content on their mobile devices, and lets them stream a number of channels live over the Internet.

Among the channels available for live streaming through DStv Now include the SuperSport channels, M-Net, and the M-Net movie channels.

DStv subscribers with PVR access and an online DStv Explora are also able to set recordings on their decoder through the app, using the record button in the full 8-day TV guide.

The Android version of the DStv Now application supports Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean” to Android 4.4.4 “KitKat”.

Support for Android 5.0 is coming soon, the listing for the application on Google Play promises.

DStv Now for iOS requires at least iOS 7.0, and the iTunes App Store listing states that the app is optimised for iPhone 5.
