Apple MacBook 3G prototype appears on eBay
The user selling the prototype MacBook claims that the 15-inch unit features built in 3G networking capabilities, and comes complete with an aerial on the lid of the device.
The seller does point out that while the 3G hardware is picked up by the operating system, the device doesn’t function even with a SIM card installed. “It is entirely possible it can be made to work by someone with more software and driver experience than myself but I can make no guarantees,” the seller said.
The prototype was originally bought on the online website Craigslist, where it had been listed as non functional. When the eBay seller took the device apart, he discovered the SIM card, different circuit board and lack of a unique EMC number.
