Google prepares for Senate grilling
Google has hired at least 13 lobbying and communications firms since May 2011 in the hopes that they can avoid antitrust action from the U.S. government.
Firms include those led by former House Democratic leader Richard Gephardt and the son of Indiana Republican Sen. Richard Lugar.
Company CEO Eric Schmidt is preparing to face a U.S. Senate hearing on Wednesday (21 September) where Google’s Internet Search and information gathering dominance will be discussed.
Keeping a close eye on the hearings will be internet rival Microsoft Corp, whose former CEO Bill Gates faced a similar congressional hearing on March 3, 1998.
