Facebook gets universal translator
Facebook is using translation tools powered by Microsoft Bing to allow site members access to a universal translator feature.
Public pages in foreign languages will display a “Translate” link next to wall posts and comments, which when selected will translate the post into a user’s default language for easy reading. The translated post will then feature an “Original” link, changing the post back to the original language used.
Facebook is also sourcing information from users by providing them with a feedback window that allows you to offer a more accurate translation if you feel the meaning of the original post has been lost during the translation process. If your version of the translation gets enough votes by other site users, it will replace the original Bing translation.
