Nokia demos new flexible screen interface
At the Nokia World 2011 show, the mobile phone maker demoed its new Nokia kinetic device which features a flexible display.
When users grip the mobile device with two hands and twist slightly, the phone can scroll through the music collection or photo albums. Bowing the device inwards or outwards zooms in and out on images, and tapping the corners of the device allows users to pan through images.
Other possible uses for the flexible interface include operating the device when it is out of sight, taking photos with the correct bend, scrolling through emails while walking or at gym, and making use of the phone while wearing gloves.
The device shown off was a prototype unit, and won’t make it to market any time soon, but it does give insight into some of the innovations currently being explored by Nokia.
