Intel “Ivy Bridge” delayed
Intel has delayed their next-generation chipset offering for ultrabooks and desktop PC’s according to an Intel executive.
Speaking to the Financial Times, executive vice-president of Intel Sean Maloney conceded, “I think maybe it’s June now” when discussing the potential release date for Ivy Bridge.
Intel never set a launch date for the chipset; however the chipmaker indicated a “spring” launch was in the pipeline. A June release date would shift the launch to a “summer” launch.
Ivy Bridge is the next performance upgrade in Intel’s tick-tock strategy, and is the first device to feature Intel’s own 3D transistor technology. It will also feature an enhanced graphics chip, USB 3.0 support, and greater power efficiency.
