Apple, Samsung drop some patent suits
Apple has nearly halved the amount of patent infringement claims it is pursuing against Samsung, while Samsung has dropped 5 of their 12 patent claims, according to a report by Foss Patents.
The dropped suits don’t seem to be enough for either company, however.
Samsung claims that Apple’s case against them is still far too big, and wants the Cupertino-based company to drop even more claims.
Meanwhile Apple is accusing Samsung of being uncooperative, claiming that the South Korean technology giant became the largest smartphone vendor in the world by copying and infringing on its technology.
If a settlement between the two companies can’t be reached, a trial is scheduled to begin in July 2012.
