Apple iPhone 5 screen made by Sony?
Sony has been making components for Apple’s next generation iPhone since February, according to a report by the Taipei Times.
The report features comment from Stone Wu, an analyst at IHS Displaybank, who claims that Sony began production of touch panels since February 2012, and will ramp up production from May in time for a third quarter release.
Apple’s next generation smartphone is expected to feature in-touch panel technology, allowing the phone to be thinner and lighter than the current generation iPhone 4S.
The new screen is also expected to be larger than the one found on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, with some reports indicating a 4 inch size screen.
Aside from a new screen, the iPhone 5 is rumoured to sport a more powerful processors, Gorilla Glass 2 protection, and LTE connectivity.
