MyBroadband in 2024
Over the last twelve months, 27 million South Africans visited MyBroadband, and we served 140 million pages to them.
Put another way, nearly all South Africans who own a laptop or smartphone visited MyBroadband in 2024.
MyBroadband is South Africa’s largest technology publication and is a window into the country’s ICT industry.
It is the first website many IT executives visit when they start their day and the last one they close before bed.
It is the most influential ICT platform in South Africa, and it informs the purchasing decisions of IT decision-makers around the country.
2024 was a standout year for MyBroadband. It grew its readership by 47% and significantly improved its South African ICT market coverage.
MyBroadband’s popular technology show, What’s Next with Aki Anastasiou, hit an impressive 6 million views, cementing its position as South Africa’s leading technology podcast.
We also launched South Africa’s largest-ever voice network quality testing project in partnership with Keysight distributor Coral-i.
Between 15 May and 4 July, MyBroadband Insights covered over 10,000 kilometres, made over 38,000 calls, and recorded over 633 hours of call data.
It revealed that Vodacom, Telkom, and MTN had exceptional network quality, exceeding what you would experience in most first-world countries.
We performed numerous other unique experiments, including testing Wi-Fi speeds at top shopping malls and fast-food franchises.
We tested using Bitcoin to buy products at Pick n Pay, used Starlink in remote areas to test its performance, and conducted many online shopping tests.
We continued our industry-leading mobile data network tests and ranked South Africa’s ISPs and fibre operators based on customer satisfaction.
MyBroadband’s forum community remained the largest and most active online group in South Africa’s ICT market.
The platform is approaching 18 million posts and continues to serve as a valuable source of information and IT support.
