Microsoft has released a new video for the upcoming Surface tablet, showing off the device’s core features.

The video gives a closer look at the cover and keyboard in particular.

Microsoft is reportedly dropping $400 million on marketing the Surface.

Running on Windows RT, the Surface features a single USB port, a 10.6″ ClearType display, and measures in at 9.3mm thick.

The detachable cover is 3mm thick, and is pressure-sensitive with low-profile keys, doubling as a trackpad.

Microsoft also released the pricing and pre-order details for the anticipated device.

The Microsoft website further stated that pre-orders will be accepted for delivery by 26 October 2012, the same day Windows 8 is set to launch – though it has been confirmed that South Africa will not be getting the device on launch.
