Ubuntu touch support coming?

A countdown clock on the Ubuntu homepage is hinting to the addition of a touch-based interface to the Linux distro.

“So close, you can almost touch it,” along with the ticking timer means that something regarding a touch-centric OS or feature will be announced at 8pm on 2 January 2013.

In an interview with Slashdot last year, Mark Shuttleworth made it clear that a cross-device OS was planned, with full mobile and tablet support set for Ubuntu 14.04 sometime in 2014.
