IPTV continues strong growth

The second quarter of 2010 saw a total of 2.27 million subscribers added worldwide. That brings the total number of subscribers to just over 38.5 million at the end of June 2010.

That means that around 7.7% of all broadband lines are supporting an IPTV service. Discounting cable lines, which do not generally run IPTV services, 9.7%, or just under 1 in 10 broadband lines are supporting IPTV.

The majority of IPTV subscriptions are currently concentrated in relatively few markets, with the top 3 markets containing almost 60% of global IPTV subscribers.

IPTV is a significant value-added service for at least 45 broadband service providers.
