SEACOM-SMW4 maintenance complete
SEACOM recently announced that SMW4 – which carries part of SEACOM’s capacity through the Mediterranean on its way to London – was planning undersea maintenance between Alexandria and Palermo from 25 July to 31 July 2011.
Good news to ISPs and consumers relying on SEACOM for international connectivity is that no downtime was anticipated because of the SMW4 maintenance, made possible by routing the affected SEACOM services via the TE-North cable system.
Aidan Baigrie, Head of Business Development at SEACOM, today confirmed that the SMW4 maintenance has been completed, and that SEACOM did not experience any downtime during the maintenance window.
“There were no interruptions to our client base,” said Baigrie. “Even those who did not have pre-arranged restoration service with SEACOM were restored without charge.”
Baigrie said that the SMW4 maintenance process finished early and that everything was completed as planned.
