Telkom BCX deal blocked
According to Financial Mail journalist Duncan McLeod, “the competition tribunal has prohibited Telkom’s proposed R2,4bn acquisition of JSE-listed IT services group Business Connexion (BCX). The tribunal says the reasons for the decision will be given in due course.”
Telkom has invested a great deal of time and resources in the possible acquisition of Business Connexion, and this can be seen as a definite blow to the fixed line provider.
Telkom’s Reuben September however pointed out that Business Connexion was not Telkom’s only option and that they are already exploring other opportunities.
