ATC rolls out wireless access services
Altech Technology Concepts (ATC) recently announced that it has built its own network to address performance and reliability issues and offer businesses a range of ‘high quality telecommunications products and services.’
According to ATC they have a strong focus on quality, and an aggressive new product roll-out plan is set to challenge the current solutions providers head-on by attracting those customers that place a large emphasis on the quality of the service they demand.
The company has already launched aggressively priced ADSL services aimed at both the consumer market and business sectors, and is now also offering businesses wireless access services which competes directly against traditional leased line offerings.
ATC points out that their customers will have the choice of connecting into the ATC backbone. Apart from their wireless access ATC also offers fibre, diginet, ADSL and bonded ADSL connections.
“Once connected, users can then break out into the Internet on ATC’s high speed links or communicate with their branch networks across a Virtual Private Network (VPN) through ATC’s managed network service offerings.”
ATC currently uses the 5.8GHz ISM band for its wireless needs, but Altech Technology Concepts (ATC) CEO Wayne de Nobrega said that the company is applying for licensed microwave spectrum, and will move over to licensed spectrum links when they receive this spectrum.
ATC is already installing the needed equipment to support licensed spectrum links at their high sites in Cornwall Hill, New Road, The Castle, Randburg, Carlton Centre and Rosebank. ATC has further plans to build three new high sites to support their wireless network expansion.
De Nobrega added that they will replace their 100Mbps wireless backhaul network with fibre in future, giving them more transmission capacity and flexibility in carrying traffic to their point of presence in the Teraco DC in Isando.
ATC is currently offering 3Mbps and 5Mbps links, priced at R4,950 (Ex VAT) and R7,250 (Ex VAT) respectively. The company will also offer 10Mbps links in future.
