Shopping centre gets free Wi-Fi

G-Connect announced that the Cedar Square shopping centre in Gauteng is offering its visitors free Wi-Fi access from today, 29 March 2014.

“Everyone visiting the mall from today, Saturday 29 March 2014, and onwards, can expect free G-Connect Wi-Fi Internet,” the company told consumers.

This development followed an announcement in October 2013 that the Golden Lions Rugby Union partnered with WirelessG (G-Connect) to make Ellis Park Stadium the first public Wi-Fi enabled stadium hotspot in South Africa.

In December 2013 MWEB announced that it had launched a promotion offering two months of free uncapped MWEB Wi-Fi at the Canal Walk shopping centre in Cape Town.

The Western Cape government announced earlier this year that more than 90,000 residents will be able to access wireless internet through the Western Cape Government’s free Wi-Fi pilot project.
