Hi all

Just want to let the community know that DLink's latest Wireless offering:

D-Link DiR-400 108Mbps wireless G router with 4 port switch , enhanced 64/128bit WEP , DHCP server for automatic user IP assignment , Firewall protection with NAT, DMZ and Virtual Server Mapping support

D-Link Di-624S Xtreme G wireless USB storage router - highspeed 2.4Ghz ( 802.11g ) 108Mbps wireless router with 4 port switch + 2 usb port for external sharing storage device , advanced firewall & parental control

DOES NOT WORK WITH IBURST! It's something to do with the PPPOE protocol.

Yes it does work with Iburst

Hi fishfly

I also just purchased a new DI-624S router and couldn't get my iburst connection to work - did some googling and ran into your post first declaring "DOES NOT WORK WITH IBURST! It's something to do with the PPPOE protocol." and I immediately thought "OH CRAP!!!!!"

But I carried on digging and came across the following page on the D-Link site - http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.a... DI-624S / DI-774_revB / DI-514 / DI-514_revC

The trick is to configure the router without running the wizard - then PPPOE works and you can type stuff on forums like I am doing now.

PHEW - just thought I would let you know...

I just finished testing the DIR range from D-Link and all of them work with IBurst (Connect, web browsing, secure sites and port forwarding),...... except for the DIR-400. :S

I'm still getting this firmware to work and will have it up before the end of next week.
The ones that I've tested are DI-604, DI-624, DI-624S, DI-LB604, DI-804HV, DI-824VUP+, DIR-100, DIR-120, DIR-300, DIR-400, DIR-615, DIR-635 and the DIR-655.

I had lots of problems with the DIR-400... tried everything didn't get it workign so I returned it. Then tried the Di-624S for a few min and decided it's best to just go with a older model...

lets hope Elf1nDrak3 can find a solution!

Guys

I got the DIR-400 firmware to connect, suft websites, and secure site and do port forwarding using IBurst. In other words the unit work 100%, except for a little new problem. Pinging the LAN ports replies now 36ms instead of 1ms. Funny, if you ping through the LAN port (to another device) the replies are normal (1ms). Only pinging the unit itself replies with 36ms.
Should get it sorted by Monday evening.

Great stuff!

Any ideas why it's reading 36ms when pinging the router?

do you have a link to the firmware update?

You'll get the late ping response because of the beta firmware debug procedure still running. We'll have it done by Thursday. Then I'll put the link to the firmware here ;)
This will be the last of the bugs for the DIR-400 in SA :D

Anyone of these from D-Link works.

Isn't the linksys a tad expensive?

personally it's all dependent on what your needs are... you get your WEP, WAP encryption with different routers... signal strength is also important if you want the wireless capability, for me a decent firewall is a definate must

Depends on where you buy, there are prices all up and down the scale.

Heh, WEP == more or less functionally useless as something you should count on, AFAIK WPA is still good to go though. As to signal strength, a WaRT is, in our market at least, probably the most flexible thing you can buy: with alternate firmware you can jack the power up and down AND you can buy different/bigger antennas (just don't be a nuisance with 'em).

I've never heard of a WaRT, or of any router-type appliance for that matter, being breached - at least not directly, router security being compromised by craptastic WiFi security doesn't count.

Good day

I would like to know if a D-Link 2750U is compatable with Iburst, and how to configure it to work with Iburst.

That's makes it a complete series of D-Link Routers that work currently with IBurst.

both!, old white desktop modem and a black usb one.
I think you're out of luck with the USB modem, it is not on the compatibility list:
http://www.dlink.co.th/products/?idProduct=495

Looking at the gallery in the above-mentioned link, I don't see a WAN port in the rear view of the router.
I don't know if this router will allow you to establish a PPPoE connection to an iBurst modem connected to one of the LAN ports.

okay

so I am **** out of luck!! looking at the TP-Link WR842ND now, the only difference between the TP-Link WR841ND and TP-Link WR842ND is a usb slot, and the price is pretty good! just hoping to get the router today!!

maby I can sell the d-link! as its almost new!

Thanks for the help!!
