Hi Forumites

Hoping i could bother you for just a bit my dilemma is that i have imported my 360 from the UK when the 1st ones were launched.Problem is the red light:eek: thing has started to plague me with system freezers e.t.c:mad:

I need to know who and where in Cape Town are there stockist of the ever so popular Thermal paste which is so hard to find.I called Matrix dont have..called Brights electrical dont have running out of options

Sybarritic are the oly ones in the JHB area 5 day turnaround time a wee little to long for me .360 is lying in pieces at home..

Any leads would be greatly appreciated :p

Not bad not bad at all only thing is has

anyone tested this paste on the 360

Thermal paste is thermal paste, and this is the newer version of Arctic Silver. Reviews I've seen have temps drop by around 2 degrees over the Silver, which isn't bad. Just do a bit of googling.

doing it right now but why the hell does the Cape Town compu shops not stock these paste is a mystery and misery

Most pc shops up here don't even stock ask a guy for Thermal Paste and he has the WTF is that expression on his face. :)

yeah yeah

but i got that look over the phone from MATRIX,BRIGHTS e.t.c aaa uuuummmhh wat praat die ou op die foon hou goe aan vir may asseblief ....this is him .... jy hello jannie wat teF$#@#$ het ons AAAKKKKKKTIK silver of `n ding .....

If you are starting to get the red ring of death, it won't be long before the thing goes completely. I know that bad cooling is one factor, but the console itself has also been proved to be pretty buggy, especially the first early editions. Good luck keeping it alive :)

As for shops not stocking paste, I know the feeling. Even shops with a technical section rarely actually have such things. If they have a few fans, it's a miracle. That's why Prophecy and Sybaritic are there, to cater for such things. Just a pity they don't have a retail chain. Then again, specialist computer shops rarely survive. I remember PC Gaming World in Canal Walk going bust.

Cyberdyne systems in Johannesburg sells Arctic silver if you're interested.

I remember the store i spoke to one of the guys there he said that they are just breaking even. They make enough sales but the dam rent is to expensive for them.

Wootware sells it and they ship anywhere. If you need a brick and motar store I don't know any that stock it currently, but if you wanna make the trip, Evetech might have it (albeit at a ridiculous price)

Esquire ? (not too far of a drive)

With Titan closed for the weekend I think you are pretty much out of luck.

Arctic Silver was my standard thermal compound until I discovered Coollaboratory's Liquid Pro. I still have two syringes of the stuff. Just don't use it on aluminium heatsinks.

AS5 was great five years ago, there are better options now.

Seems there isn't much review around though regarding Thermal Compound..
