My trusty Marconi router waved goodbye with a puff of smoke and I have bought a new Billion Bipac 7300 (G) RA. I now have a 100 page instruction manual to work thru which is going to take a long long time. Anyone has some suggestions of essential settings to make in the interim?

Thanks Michael.
I do have the guide but the instructions are extremely basic and just states:
"User just installs all of cables uses the browser to surf Internet. At this time, the EZSO WEB GUI will be popped up and request you to input some basic information you get from ISP. After this, you can surf Internet right away".
Finding out anything else including such basic settings as changing passwords, mean wading thru the 100 page manual.

That is basically what happens. I also thought i would have a problem setting my 7300 up - but it was a breeze. Just make sure you get all the necessary info from your ISP. ;)

Hmmm. If you just follow the basic setup on "the very few menus pertaining to anything a novice ADSL user would need" you end up with a admin / admin username and password and a wifi connection that is wide open to anyone in range. One has to go up to page 74 (if I remember correctly) to find out how to save changes. Not a user friendly document at all.

And the saving thing is really important, I set everthing up and assumed it was saved. Rebooted router and f'all lol
