HoN - bandwidth Fix. 15mb per game.

Hi guys, stumbled across this little piece of info, seems to work as well! :)

Instead of a whopping 40mb average per game, you can now relax a bit knowing its only chowing down 15MB per game.

Go do Documents > HoN > game > startup.cfg

search for an entry called "Setsave net_maxBPS "20000"

take this down to 8000, doesn't make a noticeable difference to gameplay, and saves you more than half the bandwidth.
 
It changes the max transfer rate from 20KBps to 8KBps, I'd assume.
 
I haven’t played a game that took that much cap since the last 3 or 4 updates I average around 21MB (45min) a game. But will try this, if I can get it even lower it would be awesome d>_<b
 
They streamlined the netcode a few patches ago. It effectively makes this fix redundant.
 
Well I tried this last night used 35MB for a 65min game (ja I know the game got dragged out erg) but seems as if it helps even if it is just a tad.
 
excuse me for sounding like a complete plonker about this but how do you work out your bandwidth usage for a game of HoN?
 
Hey PetrolHead, dude, just grab a network traffic monitoring tool, just google it there are plenty shareware or pirated versions out there!

Its quite handy, especially for SA folks with bandwidth constaints like us.
 
i turned mine down to 5000 with no noticable diff. also i hear u can go as low as 3800.
