for those of you guys that are complaining and questioning DigiChilli! thats great coz it will help DigiChilli in thier repairs and upgrades... but please tell me this in the little time i have been on this forum i havnt seen anyone from the ISP chatting on here let alone one of the big guys!!! so please give thanks and have patience with DigiChilli and to CambodiaDave as they are helping us out as best as they can

I'd be happy to join you in saying that, but the fact is in the 3 days that I have had DC, it has been broken for more time than it has been working.

The intention of your post is all great and wonderful but I do have to wonder if the service being "offered" was not relatively cost effective "broadband" whether the reaction of some people would differ.

Let's imagine for a minute that Digichilli was in fact a car manufacturer and they made a new car available to the public at a good price. They publicly launched the vehicle which was much anticipated..... BUT.... it was found by many of the new buyers that what they had been promised was not delivered. The car hardly ever reached the promised 120km/h, never mind the top speed of 200km/h. In fact some people found they were lucky to reach 40km/h. Of course on occasion the car did reach 120km/h and everyone would rejoice but lo and behold the next day when hitting the road it would stutter to a max of 40km/h again....

We seem to be defending these companies purely based on the fact that they are promising us a service we want. I think until they can deliver it reliably they should not be celebrated prematurely.

I too want affordable (or more affordable as I find it is already affordable via Afrihost etc) ADSL, uncapped would be good, and therefore appreciate what Digichilli et al are doing but they really need to get their ducks in a row before offering their product....

Do you work for DigiChilli? Do they pay you a commission to post lies?

I have tried DigiChilli and am utterly dissapointed in the crap service that I have received. All promises and no deliveries.

Well I'm with them from the start and only the last 3 days was my connection a bit wobly. I am very impressed with their service levels to me so far.

I am glad for you Gargmel (no sarcasm, really happy for you).

Personally. I signed up at the beginning of the month, paid by CC, took 4 days to get my account and since then been averaging between 0 and 2k downloading.

Think I am going to try someone else.

That is why I added the "to me" part, I see some people have some valid concerns. :)

I am not a Digichilli customer at the moment, I am still a trial user. I have had not 1 day of any notable performance on this trial account.

When the trial accounts commenced everybody couldn't not wait for the trials to end and the service implemented. The 1st of December was earmarked for this. As we all know this did not happen.

The next day for opening was set for 5th December. During all this Diggichilli was lauded for not launching while they they had problems.

Then the pressure to launch mounted and it happened. It did not go smoothly and rumours of DDos attacks against the ISP surfaced, problems upstream which had nothing to do with Digichilli, Telkom issues and greedy members regarding downloads with multiple links, all created and still are creating problems.

The thing is, they are still working flat out to better the service. Dave are posting at the weirdest hours of the day. Yes he lost his cool once or twice in the forum, but what do you expect? He is constantly interacting with members while working under extreme pressure. Anyone will lose their cool at some stage if they come under verbal attack in these situations. Remember that this is not a PR person releasing a statement and being all cool and professional.
Dave is communicating on a person to person level and we all love that until he bites back a bit.

Like I said, I had zero performance from this line, but it is early days. I will believe in Digichilli for at least at the of December when I will have to make a choice regarding an ISP.
Does the free trial account have anything to do with it? Yes of course it does!
So call me a fan boi or :wtf: else you want to call me.
I am losing money atm because of these slow downloads, but that is a decision I took and can't blame Digichilli, as I'm still using the trial account.
The big difference between me and some of the other members are that some of them paid and I did not. I can then understand why they can be very unhappy, but Digichilli understands to. Negative criticism hurts them, they do not want to deliver under par service, no they want to be the best!

These guys are working on the problems constantly. They're getting there. Give them a chance to get the network up properly. Its early days yet.
