This is not a hoax, just to be clear.

http://www.dreamz7.co.za/
Mine’ is the daughter of Retha Vosloo, a single mom who has recently joined us at Hereford in the short term division. To say that Retha is having a very difficult time right now is a serious understatement, as her daughter Mine’ is critically ill.

Mine' has been diagnosed with a rare disease caused from a bacteria picked up a couple of months ago. It was caused by something consumed (fast food?), and as it takes 7 days in which to develop, it is impossible to pin point what it is that she ate that was contaminated. The end result is that Mine' is now only 1 in 5 of these cases around the World with this form of Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome. She has been in the St Augustine Hospital with her mom right beside her each night for a full 8 months. (Since 27 September 2009).

In this time her kidneys have collapsed and presently in end stage kidney failure on Haemodialysis. Despite the use of repeated sessions of Plasmapheresis and Polygam she continues to have severe haemolysis and thrombocytopenia. In addition she has recalcitrant hypertension unresponsive to at least 4 antihypertensives given in impressive doses (equivalent to adult doses).

There is certainly hope and the drug been suggested to assist here is possibly the only medical option that she has at this stage. The drug is only available in Switzerland and is called SorarisR (Ecluzimab). The required dosage is 14 vials, and each vial costs roughly a whopping R70 000-00 ea. This equates to a total funding requirement of R980 000-00. To date +- R71 000 has been raised. Once paid in full the vials can be here within 3 days.

We would like to appeal to you to do whatever you are willing and able to do, which includes:

· Pray for Mine’,

· Contribution towards the required drug (no contribution too small),

· Fund raising participation (see www.dreamz7.co.za),

· Pass this e-mail along,

· Any bright fund raising ideas.

If anyone knows Damon Beard of East Coast (The Big Favour) or knows how to contact him, please let me know so that we can try and arrange for Mine’s case to be aired.

Please visit www.dreamz7.co.za for the bank details if you would like to make a contribution.

Where did you get that from ponder? Email?

Yes. But I know the originator personally. The story was also been published in the local paper over a week ago.

I usually never forward or post things like this as 9/10 times it's a hoax.

There are a number of ways to communicate with Damon Beard : http://ecr.co.za/kagiso/content/en/east-coast-radio/east-coast-radio-blogs-damon-beard

I also know of someone who can probably communicate with him directly. Ponder, do you work at the company mentioned or are you a client?

I'm a client so it would be best to contact Kerwin directly and not myself.

I have already fired of emails to ecr but I'm sure it would be better if he can be contacted in person.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q="SorarisR"

It says the drug is only available in Switzerland whereas the link points to Soliris in the US, one of the worlds most expensive medication.

There isn't even a drug called SorarisR. Other information given on the website is nonsense too. I call this a typical hoax. Prove me wrong if you like or make a donation directly into my account.

PM me and I'll give you the lady in questions number and you can ask her to speak to her daughter. Ok?

As regards SolarisR, there was a link provided, usual practice is to click on it....

Looks like a spelling mistake in the OP.

If you are all convinced it is real then just ignore my post. I am not going to prevent anyone from donating.

here is my link: www.bmw.co.za

My offer still stands!

You are indeed trying to put others off donating by stating that it is a "typical hoax". If you weren't trying to put people off you wouldn't have bothered posting.

Because I simply don't buy it and I am saying my opinion. I know, it's not always welcome here. But if this already puts others off although the internet is already full of hoax then I'm sorry. A simple website and 1 single photo of a 5 month hospital story is not enough to convince me. Not even a phone number although the life of a little girl apparently depends on it? Furthermore there is no other hit on google for Dreamz7. Sorry, don't buy it. You wonder in a world full of hoax and ripoffs?

Again, my offer stands for you to PM me and communicate with the mother directly.

Of course this would be a worthless exercise as you had no desire to contribute anything even if it was genuine. That is fine but then don't go making claims that it is not genuine and then continue to do so even after I have made an offer for you to find out first hand if it is or not.

Okay, I'm telling you what I'm gonna do because talking to 'the mother' is certainly no proof. So I am going to call the St Augustine Hospital where Mine Vosloo is apparently taken care of (also no hit on google for her name although she is apparently suffering from such a rare disease and would most probably be mentioned in one or the other news article)

If it turns out I was wrong and there is really a Mine at this hospital suffering from HUS I will immediately go and donate. Is that offer good enough?

Sorry, I'm having to agree that something isnt adding up. The post says she has HUS, which isnt life threatening in 90% of cases and is generally only fatal if it causes kidney failure. In which case, our money would be going to dialysis machines.

However, Soliris (if thats what was meant), treats PNH. Its the brand name of a drug called Eculizumab (notice the spelling mistake in the OP). If that was my daughter, you bet I would get the right disease and right medicine, hence I find it suspicious.

Cool, do that and give us feedback.

That's my point.
