MyGaming: Alien Swarm released for free

Cool thanks. do I need to install steam for this to work? or is there an alternate download?
 
You need Steam.

The game is fun. Very much in the same vein as Left 4 Dead but from a tactical perspective. The game is a bit buggy, unfortunately and if you have a GTX260, try not to throw a frag grenade, you'll be greeted with a BSoD. Certain ATi cards crash to desktop.

But all-in-all, it's fun to play with friends and just needs a good patching :)

Steam is glorified DRM that takes away your right to sell something you've legally purchased, even if all you've purchased is the licence.

I am not a fan of Steam, yet I make use of it as one of my only digital download stores because it (mostly) works well. I'll take a physical copy over a permanently account-linked licence any day. My problem with it is that it kills any and all collector value.

But, it works and since it generally works well I don't mind it too much.
