I usually do very good research before I buy anything and regularly catch sales people lying to me. Here as some of the long tales and I was wondering if other people have the same experience with lying and unethical sales people. It seems to be especially prevalent in the motor industry and off course at Hi Fi Corporuption. It pays to do your homework first!

1. When I bought my new carat Kia the salesman took me to his tjommie who put a protective glaze on my car for 500 bucks. The salesman told me it last 3 years. I found out it last 3 months in reality. I marched him into his managers office after which I did not have to pay for it.
2. At a bank (FNB) the guy opening my account was pretty unethical when he lied to me. After further investigation I found out he earns commission on new accounts opened. I went to head office and the guy was fired.
3. Hi Fi Corporuption I was lied to several times to such an extend that I stopped buying anything there.
4. Hirsch, guy put pressure on me to take an LCD by telling me it was the last one. I called his manager and asked for the stock list only to find out there are several left in the store. Straight to his head office again.

I cant stand lying sales people and make it my job to catch the brastards out. :D:D As a matter of fact I love it ;)

Yeah some IC guy was tuning me k@k about a warranty being 5 years long...until I pointed out that the sign says 2 years.

You get honest salesmen?

I have a recent one for you... not really a salesman.

My Honda's bumper was resprayed, and the tow hook cover in the front needed to be replaced and was invoiced for
1.) first time I picked up the car, the headlight rubber was pushed into the bumper, and the tow hook cover wasn't replaced.
2.) Took it back for the above, and picked it up, got home and noticed the tow hoolk cover also had not been replaced (again), and then I noticed paint runs on the bumper - I took pictures of this.
3.) Took it back on a Thursday specifically stating I want the damn cover I was charged for, and that the bumper needs to be resprayed. They promised it'll be ready on Monday.

I called on Monday, and they were waiting for the tow hook cover from Honda, it'll be ready on Wednesday. I called again on Thursday, and the guy said he was watching it come out of the spray booth... I could collect on Friday.

Friday I go and collect, the manager states I will struggle to get the new tow hook cover out its such a snug fit... I get in the car and drive home, get there and the OLD tow hook cover is dangling from the bumper - have a closer look and I see the bumper still has the EXACT same spray lines as before.

Needless to say, I went in on Monday and caused a moerse scene... someone phoned the owner, who then phoned me an hour later, I explained to him what had happened, needless to say, the manager was fired, and my car was redone properly.

Thats a bit rough...

I remember I was looking at a laptop and the guy was telling me it came with Windows 7 which meant I could have more than 4 gigs ram...I kindly pointed out to him that the 2 weren't related :)

Always, salesman ALWAYS lie, thats why they are salesman else they would be out of a job.

Saw a client yesterday who just bought a new lappie at incredible connection. Salesperson there told her she needed MS office 2007 home and student (R1000) even though my client told salesperson she's "always used Open Office and that she just needs Open Office Writer". Sales person at IC said "Open Office is rubbish and won't work on Windows 7". (Lie # 1).

Same salesperson talked same woman into also buying Kaspersky AV for R499 "'cos all the free ones are rubbish and don't work on Windows 7". (lie # 2).

Methinks this IC salesperson should open a Google thingy and type "MSE" then "Open Source" and finally "Idiot - definition".

Do these IC people know ANYTHING about IT?

Went to HiFi Corp the other day to buy an HDMI cable. Guy (of course) took me to the Monster Cable shelf - R1,500 for a 1.5m Monster HDMI cable. I told him they were rubbish, way overpriced and doesn't improve the quality one bit. He was (of course) quite hurt and said that's the only way to get great quality.

If I had more time, I would have gladly shown him this:

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15412&postcount=28 (audio cables - not HDMI, but still gets the point across).

Ended up paying R120 for a no-name one, works fine. :)

1. Took my spotless BMW in for a service at the Atlantic BMW. I expressly told them not to clean it.
They did it anyway and took some paint off.
The service manager claimed it was like that when I brought it in and I should take it home.
I refused and they fixed it no charge.

2. Penn Travel tried to sell me some plane tickets on Kulula, saying they only had 3 left,
so I should take them. I drove to the airport, where Kulula said the plane was nearly empty.
I don't go there anymore.

3. Game offered to match prices for all their goods. I told them a cooker was cheaper at another store.
The sales guy picked up the phone and pretended to call the other shop. He didn't look convincing,
so I leaned closer and could hear the tone you get when you don't dial in time.

4. Woolworths in Constantia had no honey left, so I asked if another branch had some.
A black guy came back and said he rang Claremont, but they were out too.
I remembered I should have bought milk, so I popped into Claremont and they had a
whole shelf full of all types. The manager said they had had stock all week and did
not get any calls about honey.

5. I found a fairly big bone fragment in a Woolies sausage once. Head Office told me
to take it in to the branch for analysis. A few weeks later they told me it was not a
bone, but just some gristle. This piece was so hard and was going brown like bone does.

So, all in all, everybody is lying about everything to protect their own interests. The trick
is to know when.

The guy was undoubtably just lazy - hope you reported him.

IC - Our Windows 7 Premium is the cheapest - you won't find it cheaper elsewhere!

A guy in IC told me that I can't install Linux on a laptop, as the hardware won't support it.

These are half truths or situations that have changed.

My old laptop couldn't support LINUX, but runs WinXP quite happily.

The catch-22 is this: If a salesman tells you the truth then you will just go to another store and buy from a salesman who lies to you.

should we assume that except for 4, all the other guys were white? or at least not black?
