Helloooo.... :p

So we had a bit of issues a week ago with a SQL server. I finally tracked the problem down to TCP Offloading issue, which even MS regrets they ever made on the Windows operating system.

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/psssql/archive/2010/02/21/tcp-offloading-again.aspx

Disabled all TCP Offloading and the SQL server is churning like steam train on steroids, without the chymney.

This led me down another road as well, concerning my home setup.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and the 3G connection on my 5800 has sucked since inception, I was running Vista Home Premium on a previous system and had the same experience.

So here it is.

I verified it did however effect my browsing and downloading speed/throughput on Windows 7, it's called TCP Chymney Offloading, yep, Santa needs to stay out of my Rig...:D

So here's how to check if it's disabled:
open cmd and run the following command to verify if it is enabled: netsh int tcp show global
If it is enabled, disable it with this: netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled
Restart your pc and test again.

As verified by this link (it's for Server 2008, but it's built the same as Vista and 7).

I am able to confirm, my 3G throughput increased from a reluctant average download speed of 30 KB/s to over 200 KB/s.

Hope it works for you ;) :D :p

If my 3g card is showing a full edge signal is this going to make any difference
