Crime stats show drop in murders

It's a pity then, that there have been cases of police doctoring statistics to make their station look better.
 
It will be interesting to see how each individual province has performed. Nonetheless, its good to see that crime is decreasing. This of course assumes the stats are correct.
 
Not sure of the movie but it was shot in Brazil. Cops find a murdered person so they drag the body over to the next precinct. Next scene has body on the beach and the cops are writing it up as a drowning. Someone points out the bullet holes so they change it to suicide.
 
Is it even possible to hide murders ?
It's either a victim is dead (existance of corpse and autopsy is proof) or is not and there is nothing inbetween.

I think the problem comes in with police stations leaving some cases off the register to make the numbers look better.

Really? So when a bullet hits a man's heart and the autopsy reveals that he died from heart failure (AKA natural causes), that's considered not cheating?

The corpse is proof of death, the autopsy would define the nature of the death.

It's quite possible to massage the autopsy results to things like Death by misadventure, suicide, accident etc, manslaughter.....

Assuming you find a body at all.

Still 45 murders a day, great to see people enthused about that.

Ah yes, something like this American report

POLK COUNTY FLORIDA SHERIFF GRADY JUDD
An illegal alien in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up 'executing' the deputy who stopped him.
The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range.
Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed. A state-wide manhunt ensued.
The murderer was found hiding in a wooded area and as soon as he took a shot at the SWAT team, officers opened fire on him.
They hit the guy 68 times.
Naturally, the liberal media went nuts and asked why they had to shoot the poor undocumented immigrant 68 times.
Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel: 'Because that's all the ammunition we had.'
Now, is that just about the all-time greatest answer or what!
The Coroner also reported that the illegal alien died of natural causes.
When asked by a reporter how that could be since there were 68 bullet wounds in his body, he simply replied:
"When you are shot 68 times you are naturally gonna die."

I wonder if thats really a true story or just one of those email jokes. I would not be surprised though to find SA police with similar reports though, lol.
 
Well if every year the report all crime is down then...... why are there still crime?

Every year the say 10% here 12% there so we should be now on about 5% crime in the year left?

Its stats that has been reported on thats it. That is always minupulated to the person needs that take the stats. Obviously they cant say it went up then it looks like they did not do their job.
So Crime stats will always be on the down and never on the uprise.

In my opinion there is to much crime and to littleaccountablity

Indeed. With all the rampant corruption and incompetence it's hard to trust these stats

Go look at the previous stats before you make such comments. I also distinctly remember a few years where they reported on the raise of crime. They do not always say it is decreasing. Below is the murder stats from 2003-2009, linky. But yes, I completely agree with your last statement

Police stats aren't collected from home affairs though are they? I'm pretty sure regardless of what his death certificate states it's still considering a murder charge.
