Haven't seen a thread on this forum dedicated to members home theatre projects illustrating pics and specs etc... Hence I thought it would be cool to start one to share tips and ideas:)

Remember this is SA! YOu going to get mostly pics of old CRT tv's with crotchet knitted cloths on top in a 1970's press board wood finish cabinet. Other than that a lot of PC setups. Just my assumption. Lol

No true, just take a look at the local PS3 and Xbox forums, lot's of really nice setups there. We are the nerdy ones, after all.

Lol I had one of those, but it still counts as a setup i guess:)

but I have since changed a few things....

MY decoders (HD PVR & SD PVR) are nowhere near each other any more... the heat interferes with the heartbeat signal! I sold the mVix PVR (on the left), I put an HT-PC in the left side cupboard. I no longer have the RF/AV combiner (thing with the red light next to decoders), cause I dont need it.... My wiring is a birds nest of scary behind and under the the cabinet!!

To Summarize:
1 X Pace HD PVR
1 X Pace SD PVR (Modded with an External 500gig Sata HDD)
1 X 47" Full HD Phillips LCD
1 X Sony DDW1600 6.2 HET system.
1 X HT-PC (1tb Hdd & Wired network) ASUS M3A-H/HDMi with X2 7750+ Black Edition 2.7GHz & 2 gig DDR2 800

STOP IT!

I want to go home :(

My wall is an oak colour (according to paint box) - wonder what it'll look like...

Lol you'll have plenty time to play with your new toy...

What I found with my projector is that a dark coloured wall will enhance your darker colours as seen in my pics and a white wall enhances your bright colours but causes your dark colours to look washed out... You need to find a balance. I haven't experimented with a grey though. Your display settings will help to compensate...

Some of the highend screens I have seen are a silver grey in colour, out of your image examples I prefer the one with the pink wall, the colours are so much richer and warmer.

I agree, but if you look at the background, you can barely see the background on the pink wall, but on the white you see everything... I must try playing around with the colour temperature settings. Those pics were taken with the default display settings. Also the whites look pink on a pink wall.

Yeh - think you'd want Cool on a pink wall...

I had it set on cool once, but the whites still looked pink. If you watch a soccer match you'll see a huge difference between colours.

All I can say now is... I'm going shopping 2mrw for a new wall unit and a bracket for my LCD, currently using a display setup from a my mates old store (when 19inch Plasma cost +-R20000 :) ) so I need to "tidy" up my setup (and hide the cables) but hey... if it works good, looks good and sounds good... why not :)

BUT.. I still like the PINK wall :)

On this forum someone posted that they used a regular plank from I think it was builders warehouse or something, search it and you might learn something
