I receive sms spam daily that doesn't have a source number, so I phoned Vodacom to help block the spam. They say I must go to a Vodashop, pay R10.00 to get an itemised billing statement in order to find out who's spaming me AND THEN go to the police station to open a case. After this the police will contact Vodacom to help me. Is there no other way to resolve the problem besides this procedure?

There is no way in hell that a copy of your itemized billing is going to show you who is spamming you. There is also no way that R10.00 is going to get you a copy of your itemized billing from the Vodashop as they cant give it to you. It needs to be requested from the service provider. Also the saps will not subpoena Vodacom because of spam so forget that rout.

Not going to help you as the SMS would have originated from an international carried and not a local one. WASPA will also not be able to assist you.

So enjoy your SPAM

from the content of the sms you cannot see the company?
Today's SMS looks like this:
ONE NEW MESSAGE...
http ://wap.mob365.net/x1a8msv/d1r1
If I choose the "options" sms menu for these messages I do not get options like "Reply", "Forward" or "Call Sender" like in other smses. Also there's no "From" on the message.

I do not know if the URL on the sms is necessarily the originator of the spam.

OK, checked out the URL and as I work for a WASP I'm not here to defend or knock any WASP.

There is a shortcode that belongs to the WASP Dialogue on the WAP page. You can take this up with WASPA.

Can you pm me the details or can WASPA use the URL to attend to the matter?

Take a screen shot of the page - rather big so you will need to take a few. Supply this to WASPA. According to SMSCODE.CO.ZA, the shortcode on the WAP page belongs to the WASP Dialogue.

(Edit the URL on this forum before someone starts clicking on that link and initiate billing - I see its R14 per 2 days)

What URL should I use to open the site on a pc? The one I supplied is a WAP and doesn't open on the pc and I don't want to use it on my cellphone as it would subscribe me. I tried editing it and ended up at blingmob.com. Is that the one I should take a screen shot of?

Well I can open up the WAP site with that URL (using Firefox). The URL and not your handset is linked to your number here. (If they where using what we call MSISDN WAP forwarding then it would give me an error msg).

Managed to open it with Firefox, was using IE. Thanks.
