Just got my new Cell-C data bundle and modem (the R1500 one, white modem). Plugged in the modem, it installed its drivers and the Cell-C manager. Restarted the computer, plug in the modem, Cell-C manager opens. Click on connect, there is some activity and it comes back with an error window saying "Error 619 : a connection to the remote computer could not be established".

In the diagnostics window, the only thing that looks strange is "PS network registration : registration denied". I have a signal, and the modem light is flashing blue.

I have tried phoning Cell-C customer support, but guess what, the first thing I run into is a prompt that says "Enter your Cell-C phone number" and will not let you past until you have. I don't have a Cell-C phone number!! I've looked on all the documents I got with the modem, and on the SIM card and there is no number that I can see. I've got PIN and PUK and IMEI, but no phone number. No doubt customer support could tell me .... Catch-22.

I'll go back to the store tomorrow, but in the meantime, any ideas ? I'm running XP, if that makes a difference.

That's what I thought; but they gave me a piece of paper that says it's activated. I'll go sort them out tomorrow.

Solved. The salesman hadn't done the RICA properly, so the SIM wasn't activated. Happy camper now. :-)
