My ping to the DSLAM/Edge Router has always been nice and low (sub 50 ms?) until Sunday, when it jumped up to this:

Code:
  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
  2 287 ms 313 ms 318 ms 196-210-136-1.dynamic.isadsl.co.za [196.210.136.
1]
  3 388 ms 351 ms * cdsl1-rba-vl2253.ip.isnet.net [196.38.73.181]

Obviously, this translates to terrible speeds for downloads, webbrowsing, and anything else. I get the same results with Webafrica too, so I'm guessing it's not the ISP. Could it be the ISP anyway?

I'm in Edenvale, and I see the following: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...Maintenance-on-the-Telkom-Network-at-Edenvale - Is it related?

Is anybody experiencing similar issues (I see Cape Town and some Mweb users seem to be?), and does anybody know if this could be an issue with my line and I need to try and get a technician, or is it a general network problem and I can just wait for them to sort it out?

Anyway, thanks for any replies! :)

It is not just Mweb users in Cape Town that are affected, but everyone that connects to the Wyberg, Claremont and Kenilworth exchanges. I just hope for your sake that our problem has not spread to Gauteng, as we still can't get Telkom even to acknowledge the problem.

I would start by phoning Telkom and getting them to reset your DSL port, and take it from there.

Update on this:

Telkom had a maintenance planned for tonight at 10pm. Not sure if they did anything or not, but now it looks like this: http://www.pingtest.net/result/26316437.png

So hopefully anybody with this kind of issue: check if telkom has a maintenance planned for your area soon. :D

Nevermind, must have just been the time.

1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 642 ms 1065 ms * 196.38.73.181
