Nokia N8 South African pricing details

One thing that the article does not mention is the 6 Month Ovi Music Unlimited Download subscription that comes with the phone. DRM Free

Ordering mine when they start shipping on the 25th.

From my understanding Ovi Music is only DRM free on individually purchased tracks, but when downloading under Ovi Music Unlimited subscription service, the tracks are still DRM'd.

Interesting, I will look it up, thanks.

Not the biggest Nokia fan, less so with Symbian. But the hardware seems great and this phone along with the Samsung Galaxy's pricing, goes a long way to show how Apple rip off their loyal fanbois.

They just reviewed it at GSMArena, and although they say the Symbian touch interface isn't quite up to Android or iOS standards, it is the best camera phone on the market with a lot of good features. Pricing is very good, comparatively.

Also, you get a free subscription to Nokia OVI Maps for GPS navigation.

I wonder what the chances are of N8 owners being allowed to "upgrade" the OS from 3 to 4 under warranty when Symbian^4 goes commercial next year? Does anyone have any ideas what the hardware requirements for S^4 is going to be?

Apparently Nokia is releasing an unsupported / unofficial MeeGo port for the N900, for dual-boot. Try at own risk. Suppose this must be a new way of Beta-testing.

Anyhow, I seriously hope this will not be the same kind of carp model that the N97 was. That was a disaster. It only became usable after the most recent firmware update.

Very keen price for all that tech...what smartphone has: best in class 12mp camera with biggest sensor; best quality HD video rec (with a patch to allow 30fps); Bluetooth 3; all protocol of WLAN; Dolby Digital Plus; USB-On-The-Go; Penta-band 3G; microHDMI port...and more!

I think I will replace my ipod and itrip with this baby.

I actually going to pre-order this baby right now - FM transmitter what is appealing to me - also saves me on buying an itrip and ipod

It's a great price for what is a very good phone. The trouble is that Nokia lost me when I changed to an HTC Desire last month, for quite a lot more money. And yes, I still like Nokia. I'm almost sad.

EDIT: If camera phones turn you on, this is the best yet. They do nothing for me.

Will the navigation on the N8 work without having to download the data for each route that you want to use?
