Should have read here first, just deleted my blob file and started steam now again to get the new one, cause this normally solves my "no connection" problem.
What else can someone do, when you can't play COD Blops?
Sorry for trapping Black ops in our steam setup, we will be giving every steam user one of their games in their top ten games wishlist, Merry X-Mas.... if only lol

Recently got into Blops multiplayer. Coming from BFBC2 this is a bit of a challenge as Blops is far faster paced. Few things I've noticed though, do we have a million dead servers? I log on most nights and see endless lists of empty servers? Also is it just me or are SMG's stupidly OP? I recently unlocked the Ak74u. That thing with a grip attachment and the steady aim perk is pretty hilarious. No need for ADS, just hip fire that bad boy across the map.

i got that when download that 8mb patch for 3rd time, then steam crashed.. Then got installation error. I just verified game integrity , it download 8mb again and installed..

When I check the validation log in program files it says that one file failed to validate:
"Validation failure: c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\call of duty black ops\BlackOpsMP.exe"
What does this mean? Can it be the cause of my errors and how do I fix it?
I think this really is what's causing all the problems. This is so irritating.

Steam back up and working, i upgraded my line to 384 - 10mb/s after hours, im keen to see tonight if it has an effect on the combat lag 
, during the day my previous 4mb shaped account was probably better than the 192kb/s of the 384 account

I managed to get connected with steam by participating in the programs beta, from the settings menu.

Hehe. This is one of the first things they said to opt out of to improve latency issues.
Can't worry about latency if I can't play...
Go here -> c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\call of duty black ops and delete or rename that exe file. (steam should be closed)
then open steam again and then right click on the game and go to properties
in one of the tab, there is a button: "Verify integrity of game data" or something like that, click on it, it will download the exe again and then you can test again.
Same here, but mine was only working again after 21:30. At least I got a game or 2 in.
I was just too tired, I was struggling with my PC to make a backup (posted under Software in forums). So by 8:30 I was so irritated and tired that I just got into bed and watched some series on my laptop...
