The petrol price will increase by 20 cents a litre on Wednesday November 3

The Department of Energy announced the price of 0.05% sulphur diesel will increase by 11 cents a litre, and 0.005% sulphur diesel will increase by 12 cents per litre.

Wholesale paraffin will increase by 14 cents a litre, and the price of illuminating paraffin- SMNRP- will also rise by 18 cents per litre.

Petrol in Gauteng will now cost 832 cents a litre from 812 cents before, and 808 cents at the coast from 788 cents before.

All grades of petrol will rise by 20 cents per litre on Wednesday next week.

The energy department on Friday said the wholesale price of diesel with a 0.05% sulphur content would rise by 11 cents per litre, and diesel with a 0.005% sulphur content would increase in price by 12 cents per litre.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would increase by 14 cents per litre, while the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin would rise by 18 cents per litre.

A litre of 95 ULP in Gauteng would now cost R8.32 per litre.

The department said that during the period under review — October 1 to 28 — the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin had increased.

The average rand/US dollar exchange rate strengthened when compared to the previous period. “The average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period October 1 to 28 was 6.9374 compared to 7.1859 during the previous period.” The appreciation of the rand against the US dollar cushioned fuel price increases to be effected in November by just more than 15 cents per litre on petrol, and by just more than 16 cents per litre on diesel and illuminating paraffin.
