Well i had two routers blown in a space of a month and was a little down on cash so when i came across the tenda routers at incredible connection i was quite pleased at the price ....

it cost me only R299

now i obviously didnt expect to get much with this router being so cheap but man was i impressed.

firstly the look is awesome not cheapy at all infact quite cool

then the features OMW! this thing has a 4 port lan and if thats not all for R299
It also has a usb option  too !

let me tell you that usb option came in very handy when i realised that my lan port was blown as well during the lightning strick so the usb was a life saver.

usb works up to 20mbps and the lan goes up to 300mbps if i'm not mistaken.

the box comes with a cab 5 cable, dsl cable, adaptor with convertor to three pin ! and a splitter

not bad for that price and i've been using it for a while now and am very impressed.

the set-up is also childs play - took me less than a minute to set up on the interface which is no great feat if you knew just how nooby i can be at times :o

only thing thats i can complain about is i cant access the router via the ip address. i tried but just cant get in... i think it might have something to do with the usb connection but at this stage im not really worried about it.

it works great and i basically got all the features of an expensive router for under 300 bucks

Seems awesome! Mind testing out the bridging via a PPPoE connection while the router is connected to another account? If that works fine, I think I should get one since my exchange should now support ADSL2+.

Also, how customizable are DHCP IP ranges and port forwarding settings?

bridging works great, i have that option on at the moment and switch between mweb, openweb and afrihost :) works great
the other router feature i cant really comment on because i'm using the usb option so i cant connect to the router via the ip addy :( but i'm sure the website will answer your questions. i cant use any of the lans because my mobo and add on card blew on the lan ports :(

What features are there in the router configuration?

i just used the setup cd not logged on via the ip. the cd has an easy install option so its just the basic options to get you connected. pppoe is obviously supported. then just your username and password the other optons are auto mapped and well it worked fine with me. i get full speed on my afrihost (unshaped)

Cool thanks! Sounds like a great buy :)

they also had one with wifi for a R100 bucks more... i would have bought that one but was scared of what the misses would of said :) i already spent too much on routers this year so i'm praying that lightning proof really does work !

Wat's a cab 5 cable. It's suppose to be CAT5 cable. And usb speed is up to 480Mb/s and the LAN should be 100Mb/s

spelling error

yeah CAT5 is correct ... the usb is def 20mbps not 480... the i havent tested the LAN ports because of my blown ports but i read on their website somewhere its up to 300mbps

These are standard issue for Cybersmart.

Not sure if I have an ADSK syncing issue but I have to reboot it every morning to ensure that it works for the day.

Which firmware version are you using?

2010-05-27 - V1.0.0.1 is out. Let me know whether it helps resolve the issue, I want ADSL2+ and this router seems like a sweet deal :)

I am now also the owner of a new Tenda router since my Netgear DGN2000 popped last night in the lightning :( Holy F**k Netgear's are getting expensive :wtf:

Bought the wireless W548D V2.0 for R399 at incredible

Good to know. Esp about the wireless one...my netgear is probably gonna get fried sooner or later w/ these highveld storms.

Its because you're on USB not LAN.

xthe i havent tested the LAN ports because of my blown ports but i read on their website somewhere its up to 300mbps
By that probably mean gigabit lan.

I must say I've also been very impressed with the price/warranty and quality of the routers and modems sold by Uniterm direct.

I shopped around a while to get stronger wireless signals etc and stumbled upon them by accident.
A supplier that sells to the public.

I also bought a Tenda but the wireless version and for someone that used to work for one of the biggest router brands in SA. I can tell you this is really good value for money.

I am just glad my network port didn't get fried, the lan cable connecting it to the router did. I almost carped myself when it happened.

i was so impressed i went out and bought the wireless one too :)

works great, get a 54mbps connection through out our small property.

reception is great and i have it in bridge mode so i can still swap isps when i need to do so.

excellent value for money

I also bought the wireless one last week Friday as most PC stores either didn't have stock or were too expensive. Must say I am highly impressed about the unit. Also I just found 2 switches on the side to turn on/off WLAN and WPS.

PS: What does WPS do and should I enable it?
