The Divoom xForce1 is an impressive product with impressive sound quality at an extremely affordable price.

When it comes to sound quality, you should never compromise clarity for louder sound. While many speaker sets sound good at lower volumes, it takes a great set to sound crisp at louder volumes too.

The Divoom xForce 1 kit has all the characteristics you would expect from an imported Chinese speaker set: it’s a relatively unknown brand; its design is very similar to that of the Logitech Z-5500’s; and it’s very cheap. While the combination of these factors could be a bad thing in most cases, the Divoom xForce 1 managed to impress us regardless.

In all honesty, we were rather surprised when we used this speaker set for the first time. Not only was the sound crisp, but the set managed to produce a ‘full sound’ even at higher volumes. While not the loudest speaker set we have used recently, considering its very affordable price tag and good sound quality, this is the ideal speaker set for home or office users.

Rated at 30W RMS, both the speakers connect directly to the powered amplifier. Next to the RCA ports, where your speakers connect to the subwoofer, you will also find control knobs for the bass and treble - there is also a master volume control here.

Fortunately, the main volume controller comes in the form of a breakout box, which also sports an audio-in and headphone socket.

At lower volumes, the treble and bass performed very well and this speaker set managed the tricky combination of a deep sound at low volume effortlessly. As we cranked things up a bit, the Divoom xForce 1 managed to maintain its dominating presence in the room.

While the subwoofer started to distort slightly at very high volumes, turning the bass down a bit solved this problem.

The high notes produced by the satellite speakers were also very crisp, but started distorting a little at full volume. Considering that you won’t be hosting a party with these speakers, we were very impressed by the overall sound quality nevertheless.

The set handled itself well when playing games and if you have the right cables, you can even hook up your gaming consoles to these speakers.

The kit bundles with mounting screws, allowing you to wall-mount the speakers if your environment allows it. Each of the two speakers also sports a removable speaker shield. By removing these shields, the speakers will have an industrial look.

I have looked at these and can get them for R400. Do they have a thump in the bass. If not great what are some decent speakers for under R500 that I can get in pietermaritzburg.

Thanks
