The legendary group returns in digital form

Who would have thought that music games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band would become so popular that bands are now releasing their music on a gaming platform. In August, we looked at Metallica’s first music, rhythm game, and hot on their heels are The Beatles, arguably the most influential band of the 21st century.

The Beatles: Rock Band was developed by Harmonix, the original developer of Guitar Hero. The set list contains 45 Beatles songs, including the hits Come Together, Yellow Submarine, Twist and Shout, and tracks from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Although the set list comprises an amazing range of tracks spanning the band’s career, there is also a good mix of lesser-known songs included as well. It was also announced that three more albums will be released for download – these are Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road, and Rubber Soul.

The game can be played using either Rock Band or Guitar Hero controllers, and players can play guitar, bass, drums, or sing vocals. Interestingly, you can connect up to three microphones in game, to recreate the amazing three part harmonies perfected by The Beatles. You can play all the tracks in ‘Quickplay’ mode or you can follow the band’s rise to fame from The Cavern Club to Abbey Road Studios. The game features stunning graphics, venues, and dreamscapes, and there are a few interesting game modes and challenges included too.

While The Beatles: Rock Band won’t appeal to everyone, it has great replay potential if you are a fan of good music. If you are an avid collector, the Limited Edition band kit will appeal to you. It features the Höfner 500/1 bass guitar a Ludwig drum set, and microphone and mic stand.
