A customisable gaming keyboard that won’t blow your budget
When it comes to build quality, Genius products have, in general, had a less-than impressive history. Thankfully, this is something they’ve been paying attention to in recent times, as their barrage of computer peripherals continues to stave off the more expensive competition, and offers consistently improving build quality and features to match.
The LuxeMate 525 is no exception to this trend. The keyboard features a separate island of keys dedicated to gaming. Each of the 26 gaming keys can be reprogrammed as either a series of key presses (a macro) or a single key press. Each macro can then be adjusted and fine-tuned with a number of options, including time delays and looping mode. Unfortunately, the macros are limited to 22 key presses and releases, which severely hamper their usefulness in MMORPGs, but should still serve perfectly for shooters and strategy games, as well as any design applications.
The keys themselves are light to the touch and are surprisingly easy to adjust to, which is more than what can be said for the main keyboard area. While the main keys have a great feel to them, the cursor keys and those around them are cramped and a little awkward to use.
